Monday 25th October 2021: Intermediate Wet Felting with Prefelt and Resists for Fibre Art
Spend a day exploring the creation and use of pre felt and resists in wet felt 2D and 3D fibre art.
Learning how to make and use pre-felt and resists in your wet felt techniques is a great way to help sharpen your images when creating pictures, add 'built in' elements such as waves and textures, and will allow you to add elements with crisper outlines and details when making bowls, vessels, fibre art objects, and also in nuno felt designs too.
You will be creating pre-felt in colours of your choice to use in process of wet felting your project in the workshop and working with resists to create built-in features and textures.
You'll then use your knowledge to create a sample picture design, or 2D/3D vessel/object, learning how to assemble and incorporate pre felts into your wet felted items as well as the practical function of resists.
This is a truly creative felt-making day, suitable for people who have a small amount of wet felting experience. (We have introductory workshops for the fundamentals of wet felting - please click 'Chat with the Maker' if you are unsure which workshop would be the most suitable for you to attend).
This class is suitable for adults in a group of 4 (maximum)
Price includes all the materials to make a 2D picture project or a 3D vessel or fibre art object. You will spend the first part of the day designing your project and then creating the pre felts and resists which you will need. Then the second part of the day will be spent assembling and wet felting your project.
Everything you need for this workshop will be supplied except an apron which you may like to bring or please wear clothes suitable for crafting.
Wet-felting can be quite physically hard work so help is always available if you should need or want some extra oomph! and we adapt how we work to be fully inclusive.
You may want to do more work on finishing your fibre art felt pieces after the workshop.
Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the session. Please bring lunch, snacks and any other refreshments which you would like.
Buying as a gift? Want to buy for a special occasion and would like help making the day even more special? Can't see a suitable date? Please click 'Chat with the Maker' - always happy to help!
